A nurse is a specialist with the theoretical knowledge, skills and attitudes of nursing science required to provide primary nursing care in the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of common and prevalent diseases and disorders, and to deliver quality nursing care in health education, health promotion and health protection for the population.

A professional capable of monitoring healthy pregnancies, managing normal deliveries, and providing family planning counselling and assistance; a voice for gender equality and against violence; and a provider of health education to the public on STIs and the prevention of reproductive cancers, targeting adolescents and target groups, among other areas.

A traditional medicine nurse is a professional who provides traditional medicine nursing care: preventing, diagnosing and nursing diseases, injuries, and physical and mental disorders, rehabilitating through movement, performing the 5 traditional therapies hands-on, assisting traditional medicine physicians during bloodletting and needling procedures, advising on the post-treatment regimen and dietary restrictions, and combining their knowledge and skills with modern medicine.

It is a profession that, through occupation, assesses and treats people who are unable to perform the activities they want or need to do because of physical or motor impairments, mental or cognitive disorders, injuries, or congenital or age-related changes, enabling them to participate in their daily activities, lives and society. It also provides assessment and services for many issues such as occupational imbalance in healthy people, crises during life transitions and the ergonomic set-up of the working environment.

A specialist who prevents, diagnoses and treats loss of physical movement and functional ability caused by disease, the environment, accidents, injuries or ageing, and restores and stabilises quality of life to the highest possible level.

Speech therapists assess, diagnose and provide rehabilitation services for speech, language, hearing, swallowing, and social and cognitive communication disorders in people of all ages. They use speech therapy methods to reduce impairment and improve clients' speech, swallowing and communication abilities.
